XXI DOUG FARMER Editor -in- Chief FREDDY CUMMINGS Business Manager BEING before us another year of progress, we, the Staff of 1952, have selected wood as the theme of our yearbook. We have selected this theme because of the importance of the wood industries in our com- munity and the importance of wood to our school itself. We have attempted to carry out this theme in our yearbook with the cover design, the insheets, the senior section, and with the division pages. We wouid like to bring to your attention that the 1950 ORIOLE won an outstanding rating as the second best high school annual in the state. We hope that this year ' s ORIOLE will measure up +o this fine record. Our Staff sincerely hopes that the ORIOLE ' S coverage of 1951-1952 will leave with you the wonderful memories of our school year and take its place with the other fine ORIOLES published in the past. MR. VICTOR W. KREITER Mr. Victor W. Kreiter is an outstanding member of the community, who by his remarkable knowledge and understanding, has furthered the mental and physical development of our students. He has given his talents unhesitatingly to promote the activity of football, both to stimulate the spectators and to arouse more enthusiasm and student participation, and as a result has made Pulaski High School ' s foot- ball team the champions of the Sixth District. Many contributions are made in our school life by out- standing people, not only in school, but in the community. This year Pulaski High School and the town were united as one, this fact being shown by the mass of people who attended FOOTBALL SQUAD the football games. Our football team achieved its goal, making a brilliant showing of skill and sportsmanship, as they won the District Six Championship. We, the ORIOLE STAFF of 1952, dedicate our yearbook, THE ORIOLE, to our fine coaches, Mr. Victor W. Kreiter and Mr. Jack Miller, and to our football team. Mr. Jack Miller, a newcomer to Pulaski, has made, in a short period of time, a place for himself in the school, the hearts of the students, and in the com- munity, through his efforts and association with the football team. He has untiringly contributed both time and knowledge to help make the team what it is today. MR. JACK MILLER oriole staff If, when you receive the 1952 ORIOLE you may look through its pages and find it a source of pleasure and satisfaction, and an incentive to make the most of what your high school days have meant to you; and if, in later life, you can look through it and recall pleasant memories of high school days, our efforts in presenting this publication for your approval will have been repaid. We are not unmindful of all those who have in any way contributed to our publica- tion. Without your interest and aid our work would have increased in volume. May we de- serve the help you rendered us. Treasurer Just four short years ago we entered Pulaski High School hardly realizing our thrills and spills. The four stages we have come through have been fun. First we were noisy freshmen, then silly sophomores. We advanced to anxious juniors and now we are proud seniors. Each member of the class of 52 takes with him fond memories of P. H. S. and its faculty. We are glad that we can leave our school to such an ambitious group coming after us. We leave realizing that our goals would not have been successful without our faculty. We are especially proud of working with Mrs. Friel Quesenberry, Mrs. J. C. Totten, Mr. Foy Aust, Mrs. MeHene Wall, and Mr. V. W. Jg But £L , Jmn-TTl ? MANUrACTUDIMG • DESIGMIIMG • DEVELOPMEMT • RESEARCH • MERCUAMDISIMG • TASMION The world’s oldest manufacturing industry — textiles — is today one of our most exciting and challenging industries, producing revolutionary textile products with qualities which men have sought for centuries. Man- made fibers, new products of the chemist’s test-tube, have been a major contributor to this textile progress. A small textile producer in 1923, Burlington Mills believed in the future of rayon — an early man-made fiber. In the past 28 years Burlington has become a leader in the development and production of beautiful, durable and high-quality filament, spun and knit synthetic fabrics. From one plant with approximately 200 employees, our Company has grown to include 73 manufacturing plants in 43 communities of eight states and four foreign countries. Employing 34 000 people, Burlington is today the world’s l argest producer of synthetic fabrics, and it is a recognized leader in the designing, development, research, merchandising and fashion fields as well as manu- facturing. If you are a young man or woman looking for a place in industry, we think you should consider textiles — and Burlington. It can hold a bright future for the person with the willingness to learn, ability to work, and the natural interest in this fascinating and competitive field. Executive Offices: Greensboro, N. C.
