First Row Ulezelski, Kuester, Bradshaw. Second Row: Sikorski, Liss, Monahan, Lepkowski, Bogocki. Third Row Coach Kezele Hanover, Gutsch, Kalupa, Gcbrovic, Miller, Kolosek, Rondeou. CROSS COUNTRY There were no major letter win- ners returning trom the previous crossecountry season. so Coach Ke- zele had to build his harrier squad from green material, The small turn- out for the sport, plus illness and injury to at least one of the better boys in each meet, hampered his ei- torts considerably. West Division High School and Cudahy were beaten by the locals, but in other dual meets they didn't fare too well. In the City Cross-Country Meet the squad placed eighth, and in the State Meet they placed thirteenth. There were no major letter winners tor the season. Minor letters were awarded to: Fred Kuester, Luke Gabrovic, Ralph Boqacki, Donald Miller, Ron- ald Kalupa, Robert Gutsch, Lee Mon- ahan. Frosh-Soph numerals were awarded to Richard Shick, who started practice late in the season. He came along rapidly to do a fine job. He is expected to be one of the outstanding runners next year. UNDEFEATED All hail the victors! Pulaski. for the first time, won the city championship. After only seven years in the city conference, Coaches Gene Wozny, Harry Max, and Al Thurner produced a rugged, hard hitting team. With the excellent material re- turning from last season, and a victorious frosh-soph, a top notch team was produced. Eight returning major letter winners and fourteen minor letter win- ners got right down to the busi- ness of becoming champions, In their first encounter, the Ramblers pulled a big upset by overpowering a favored Wash- ington team, 19-0. Big Neil Wor- den was the sparkplug, scoring all t h r e e touchdowns. He sparked the team by intercept- ing a pass on the Purgold 40 and running it to the 50. Within five plays he scored. Worden scored again over center in the last half. The Oklahoma Avenue boys punched East Side's defense to pieces for a 28 to 7 victory. Fred Reichert broke away through right tackle and put on a terrific burst of speed to outrun all East siders for a 75 yard touchdown. Bob Grollo, defensive right half- back, was injured and out for the rest of the season. The Boilermakers from Tech proved to be worthy opponents. Tech held the Ramblers to a 3 to 0 edge until a 46 yard pass broke up the game. In the open- ing play of the fourth quarter, Worden teamed up with Kos- matka on a pass for a 7 to 3 vic- tory over Tech. ac Ko Nel Wo d D Bu don P ste S 9
