i In the coming years when atomic power becomes available, we shall see tremendous changes in society throughout the world. The location of communities and industries will cease to be influenced by distance and the scarcity of fuel and raw materials. These developments will cause the dissolution of old industries and old communities. We will face a new and totally different world. Education must now dedicate itself to the problem of how to hold this new world together. A World Government has become a necessity for the survival of civilization. But if the World State is to be maintained or perhaps even achieved, American edu- cation must contribute to the moral, intellec- tual, and spiritual revolution necessary to meet the problems that lie ahead. The young men ar women enrolled in our present America high schools have seen the collapse of fo' mighty nations. During the early years their educational training, they saw tl peoples of the world bound more close together by the creations of technologic science. Young Americans now find th they are no longer citizens of one natio but rather they have become members of global world society. The future progress of this society is C rectly dependent upon creations of your minds. More and more it is becoming aj parent that if the future is to hold for us promise of a more understanding and tc erant world leadership, we must by o educational programs aspire to develop profound appreciation for the preservation of world brotherhood.
