His basketball technique has plenty fi- nesse, likewise for his per- sonality. In September of 1940, the class of '44, the school's largest class up to that time, made its debut into Pulaski society. It didn't take long for this group to make all take notice of its presence. The first year, under the supervision of its class sponsors, Mrs. Gloria Schmidt and Mr. Edward Batterman, and election was held in which the following officers were chosen: Edmund Wisniew- ski, Presidentp Russell Coley, Vice President: Ade- line Bednarek, Secretary: and Robert Welsh. Treasurer. With the aid of these selected leaders the class really started to do things. The first undertaking was a -dance in the clubroom, which proved to be a big success. When another dance was held shortly after, this class became the first to sponsor two dances successfully in its freshman year. The sophomore year the same officers were chosen with the exception of Warren Reis, who was chosen as secretary. Sorow touched the class for the first time when, after only one semester of service, Warren Reis was claimed by death. Next came the all important junior year. The main social event of this period was the junior prom. Russell Coley and Bernadette Guss ruled as King and Queen with Howie Emerson's Orches- tra providing the music. During this year the class showed its patriotic spirit when, after an all-out effort, it won first place in a bond race. Another election took place in the middle of the junior year. This time it was decided to choose a commission to plan the traditional activities for the senior year. The members chosen were Rus- sell Coley, Robert Welsh, Georgene Pandzieck. 4' - s..........-e- 5 A f f--1. a. ... .-.me Ioyce Carey, and Edmund Wisniewski. To the field of sports the class of '44 contributed many laudable athletes: Ioe Muschinski, City Div- ing Champp Danny Buchatzg and Ervin Anderson, the backbone of the City Champion Swimming Team of '44. The two most outstanding, all-around athletes of the class were Robert, Iaskulski and Harvey Kossow, both starring in football, basket- ball, and track. Much too soon came the final year and with it a few changes. When Georgene Pandzieck and Russell Coley were graduated in February and Edmund Wisniewski joined the Armed Forces. vacancies were left on the Class Commission. This made necessary another election. The student chosen wre Harry Carlson Robert Iaskulski, and Patricia Czerwinski. On Caper Day, the first event of this year, the seniors portrayed their favorite fiction, movie, or in-the-news characters. Next the class held a football hop for the benefit of two students injured in football practice. The senior prom which followed saw Robert Welsh and Ethel Latus ruling as King and Queen, in a beautiful setting of Marine life. Following these activities were the Senior Class Play, Cap and Gown Day, and the Senior Banquet held at the Schroeder Hotel. With graduation on the night of Iune eighth the history of the class of '44 was ended. u Whether we meet or whether we part lFor our ways are past our knowingl A pledge from the heart to its fellow heart On the Ways We all are going!
