A cheeful nature is one of her many virtues. , JA UARY CLASS HISTORY The Ianuary Class of 1944 did not become active in social and academic affairs until its junior year. A meeting was held, under the auspices of the class sponsors, Miss Violet Asi- mont and Mr. Sylvester Suidzinski, for the pur- pose of electing worthy and capable leaders to carry on the ideals of our school. The class decided to nominate representatives from each homeroom and later voite on a commission. The people elected were Ierome Ash, Audrey Derezynski, Margie Garske, and Leonard Fons. Although the class consisted of only 85 stu- dents, one of the smallest graduating groups in the history of Pulaski High School, it showed excellent ability and leadership. This set an example for the remainder of the school and proved that strength may be found if the num- ber be great or small. The first outstanding event of the season was the Senior Prom. Ethel Latus of the February class and Robert Welch of the Iune graduating class reigned as Queen and King respectively. The decorations depicted marine life, and the music was furnished by Guy Grabmann. The next event was our traditional and colorful Caper Day held on December 10. Many humorous and historical costumes were worn. Some of the characters portrayed were as fol- lows: angels, Chinese, Snow White, Daisy Mae, Pistol-Packing Mama, Hitler, Lady in an Alice blue gown, Whistler's Mother and her son, Miss Uncle Sam, soldiers of World War I and II, and others too numerous to mention. The Senior Vaudeville held on Monday, Ianuary l7 was a complete sell-out. It consisted of several acts, namely, the bowery dance, the bowery girls from Pulaski High School, a melodrama with a zoot-suit hero, and the band with Freddie McGurgle. Credit must be given to Audrey Dereszynski who devoted her time to make the vaudeville ia success. The class was proud because its students were the frst to have their pictures for' the an- nual taken in caps and gowns, all were pleas- ed with the results. ' On Ianuary 24, a banquet was held at the Pfister Hotel, and the next evening the 86 Sen- iors marched down the aisles of our auditorium in gray caps and gowns to receive their diplo- mas. A reception was held later in the gym- nasium. It was a happy occasion, nevertheless one that had its serious side for it meant that these young people had completed their happy day-s at Pulaski High School.
