This fall of 1940 Pulaski jumped a step higher in the line of football and took its June Class, I942 On September 7, 1938, Pulaski opened its arms to a new group of freshmen, this time the largest group ever to enter. Little did anyone know on that first day in the bar- racks library, where they assembled, know how ambitious, challenging and prosper- ous this class would become. The first year of high school life Stanley Butkowski was elected to lead the group with Iames Papke, and Gladys Demski as helpers. More progress was made in the sopho- more year when the Sophomore dance was considered quite an achievement for a younger group to attain. This was the year Gladys Acker, an able leader, took over as president with Rosemary Heckel and George Fischer as her assistants. The Iunior Year! Ah!! This year held many, many opportunities which were eag- erly accepted and put to their best ad- vantages. First there was the prom, a beautiful spec- tacle with an Indian theme and atmosphere. Harold Iungbluth reigned as King with Iane place in the City Conference. Proudly this class took another step by electing three cheerleaders to cheer this conference team to victory. Through all the excitement and activity of the Iunior year Ambrose Szymaszek stood out as a capable leader with Ray Kurtz, Gladys Acker, and Bob Forecki to assist. Amid all joys of school life sad incidents manage to creep in. In this case Ervin An- drzejewski was taken from our midst when he succumbed to the ravages of pneu- monia. A11 too soon came September ot 1941, the fateful day when classes were resumed and the 1942 class continued for the last year. With regrets in their hearts for having to leave very shortly they resolved to make their last year their best year and have done so with the help ol the commission headed again by Ambrose Szymaszek. Due to his chosen vocation to the priesthood he left school and was succeeded by Andrew Zafis
