A UNTING ARE UND JEDDAH Jeddah may have more monuments and memorials than any other city in the world. A British photographer tasked with compiling a book of the many decorations said the King's only restriction on pro- posals for monuments is that they may not depict people or animals. King Fahd's Fountain, above, was inspired by a similar fountain in Geneva. Although is was never verified, we were told that the fountain served much like an absentee pennant - when the King was in Jeddah, the fountain was turned on for him to see from his palace.
