The girls ployed on outstonding motch beoting out Polo Verde for the first ploce title. Josie Ochoo, Liso Borreros, ond Sondro Bonillos were oll chosen for the All-Tournoment teom. But lock of timing ond height ond on injury to Tiffony Howell, kept the teom from going oll the woy to the stote finols. The squows were beoten in the semi- finols of the city ployoffs by Sohuoro, O-2. With greot determino- tion ond ogressivness the Pueblo Worriors' volleyboll teom end- ed their seoson with 13 victories ond 4 losses. The squows were olso tied for first ploce in the AAA Southwest Leogue with Polo Verde. With outstonding ploying, Sondro Bonillos wos chosen for the first teom All-City by the Arizona Daily Stor. Liso Borreros ond Josie Ochoo mode second teom for the All-City. ln oddition to these honors, Liso Borreros ond Sondro Bonillos tried out ot the end of the seoson for the Junior Olympic Volleyboll Teom. They mode the teom ofter rugged try-outs ond will trovel oll over the United Stotes ploying volleyboll this sum- mer. As the sqaws beat Cholla in a dual meet but lost to Buena and defeated Palo Verde in a triangular meet. Six of the eleven member team were freshmen many with no experience but hard work and dedica- tion eorn themselves these victories. Coach Banales added They surpassed any expectations I had of these ladies in the beginning of the season. This young team broke seven of eleven school records with their leader Natchie Martinez taking the diving championship and also placed eleventh at divi- sionals in the butterfly. Other leaders were Josie Martinez who set new school records in the 200 meter individual medly and in the 100 meter freestyle event. Marion Woods co-captain of the team was fifteenth in the 100 meter backstroke city wide and set a new school record in this event. The team also managed to beat Cholla to place thirteenth at the divisional meet. Most improved player was Amanda Woods. 1981-'82 Junior Varsity Volleyball team was very successful ending the seoson with a 65 record. The team's toughest op- ponent was Palo Verde defeating the Warriors 16-14 and 15-4. Coach Hodges stated, Hard work and team effort was what enobled the team to do so well. She continued, There were three games we lost, I personally felt we should have won, but we were out of position and two of them we couldn't get our serves over. Pueblo was definitedly a good serving team. added Coach Hodges.
