I 4 s -1. ' Ball Plagers Work To lrnprove During Seasons lt was coach Ken Horcus' first year at Pueblo as the 1981-82junior varsity softball coach. Practices were held everyday during sev- enth period. Each practice session consisted of working on all fun- damentals, throwing, catching, running, hitting and improving any other weaknesses. The teom consisted of ten freshmen and two sophomores. They lacked experience ond had trouble throwing strikes and hitting the ball, but the girls learned by their mistakes after every game. The toughest game this year was against Cholla High School, but coach Horcus felt that Pueblo should have won more games and ended the season with a better record. The team finished the sea- son with o record of 5-10. This may not reflect on their potential in 2-3 years. Coach Harcus stated, The entire team helped each other, but Lydio Lopez stood out as a leader and competitor. Other impor- tant team members were Cormen Limon and Cathy Cota. The 198081 season was fairly rough for the junior varsity base- ball team. Mr. Holstrum coached baseball for the first time here at Pueblo.
