The 1981-82 boys vorsity teom were led by seniors, Fronk Howkins ond Federico Romirez including seven other teom members while junior vorsity consisted of two sopho- mores. Fronk Howkins storted off the seoson by surpossing Pueb- lo's course record of 16:26 set by Roy Ruiz in 1981. He ond Fed- erico Romirez both set o new record of 16:86 ond 16:31. Pueblo porticipoted in the Phoenix Thunderbird lnvitotionol, October 24, 1981. Fronk Howkins ploced 7th ond Federico Romirez ploced 17th, while Juon Herber ploced 14th in the boys novice roce. The seoson ended with two runners selected for the sec- ond All-City teom. They were Howkins ond Romirez. The girls vorsity teom wos smoll but contoined three strong runners who were seniors, Denise Alcoroz, Dione Holl, ond Vivion Tomoyo. Cooch Costro wos in need of girl runners throughout the seoson. They olso porticipoted in the Thunder- bird Invitotionol. Vivion Tomoyo ploced 5th, Denise Alcoroz ploced 12th ond Dione Holl finished 48th in the girls open roce. Pueblo hod to forfeit ogoinst Chollo one of their lost meets.
