'-T1 ...D sn - wee, , ss '6 'M.'fh 2 Gonzales Coaches Pueblo's New Soccer Club Pueblo's soccer coach for the 1981-82 season was Mr, Rafael Gonzales. Doing this on his own time, he worked with the team after school practicing strategic maneuvers and skill. Although they started aff slow, they were only able to play four games, and had big plans for the future. Car washes were held to raise money for uniforms and equipment. Mr. Gonzales has been playing soccer for twenty years at Menlo Park. He was the first soccer teocher there. He stated that Menlo was a home to him. When asked about his most prominent player, Richard Reed, Coach Gonzales replied He is an excellent and determined player. 1D Coach Gonzales surveys his team during a home game. 25 Senior, Richard Tellez, goes for a goal. 35 Players of the 1981-82 soccer team are, Top row: Coach Gonzales, Ramon Salazar, Jesus Medina, Richard Tellez, Richard Reed, Jorge Atondo, Rene Contreras, Martin Borquez, Manny Delsy, Manny Romero, Ernesto Castillo. Middle row: Aurelio Soliz, Fransico Gonzalez, Julio Virgen, Bottom row: Jesus Arvizu, Johnny Dominguez, Darrel Crocker, Sergio Soliz, Foustino Acosta, Heriberto Salazar, and Henry Guasp. Varsity club for 81-82 expanded enormously. There were eighty five members in the varsity club. To be a member you had to earn your major P in any varsity sport. The varsity club was involved in many activities. The club sold snacks at games. In the past they also sold stationery. The main thing they did was sell programs at football, basketball, and volleyball games. This year the club planned to go to Disneyland for a field trip. The club president was Mickey Graham, and vice president was Cindy Ochoa. The pur- pose of the club is to promote German- American friendship and student exchange. On Easter, German students come to Ari- zona to hilse the Grand Canyon with the Pueblo High students. During summer vaca- tion Pueblo students visit West and East Ger- many. The club officers were Rene Denogean, presidentg Frank Calzadillas, vice-presidentg Yolanda Cramer, treasurerg and Ana Con- edo, SeCrefOry. Pueblo High's pep club had approxi- mately 20 members. The club officers were Pamela Deol, presidentg Magda Golindo, vice-presidentg Xochil Oros, secretoryy Linda Arreolo and Betty Segura were Sergeant at arms. The pep club promoted spirit in mony different sporting events.
