The range of activities explored by physical education students is vast. The tirst two years are planned to be a basic introduction to as many ac- tivities as possible. Girls participate in track and tield sports, tennis, swimming, and gymnastics. As iuniors anal seniors, they may further a special interest in mod- ern dance, tennis, songleading or cheerleading classes. Boys engage in such activities as basketball, track, swimming, and soccer. Those excelling in a par- ticular sport may go out tor any of several teams in competition with other schools. Still others, having the right qualifications, may become trainers or managers tor the teams. During the sophomore year health and drivers' education occupy one semester. Co-ordination and physical fitness are the goals of physical education, but activities also build healthy emotional and social attitudes. ln addition to the regular physical education classes, students are ottered an opportunity to take part in recreational and team experiences through or- ganizations like Girls' Athletic Association. These or- ganizations enter a variety of sports including swim- ming, hockey, anol basketball, which are practiced during meets by intra-school teams or together in com- petion with other schools. Either way a brisk swim around the pool on a summer day is pleasurable. Playing keep-away is only port of the fun in a game of soccer. Jumping and kicking the ball are others. 207

Pueblo Staffs Work K Records of attendance form an important core of information for students and faculty. Associated in this work are Mrs. Clara Davidson, Mrs. Donna Stanley, Mrs. Linda Fehr, and Mr. Don Collier. Mr. Collier links Secretaries Mrs. Shirley Banning, Mrs. Ann Sellen, Mrs. Mary Hysong, the school with the home by making personal visits to homes of students from their duties ug aids to the administration, often absent. He also teaches American history. May I help you? This question, like the bookstore, is well known supplies everything from schoolbooks to pencils and activity tickets. 208 to all students. The bookstore One of the most important groups working to keep Pueblo a top school are the men and women who make up the various staffs. These individuals work behind the scenes. They perform the important every day tasks which allow other portions of the school to function. The secretaries work to keep records and files in order. They process report cards, aid the ad- ministration, and supply varied in- formation for student use. The lunch program is pro- vided by the cafeteria crew. The total District One food schedule is headed by Mrs. Louise McClain and Mrs. Elsie King. A familiar figure around the Pueblo campus is that of the night watchman, Sta n l e y White. He checks the school during its off hours and assists during school ac- tivities. The task of keeping the cam- pus looking sharp belongs to the groundsmen and custodians. ln- cluded here are Silas Maahs and Harry Bestul, the electricians. These people put the well- kept look to PHS.
