New Programs Enrich English Classes English is considered a tool essential to education. Without English we cannot read, without reading it is diffi- cult to study history, science, math, and other subjects. Without The ability to speak and write properly we are unable to exchange ideas. Facts could not be recorded nor could plans be made. Our existence depends on the ability to use the English language. Society is built around language. English is the basis of education. ln hope of further improving the present course of study, a new experimental program was established. This group of specially selected seniors spent the year reading from specific booklists and comparing books with the movie versions. Those studied were Tortilla Flat, West Side Story, and Bridge Over The River Kwai. Freshmen started a novice debate team under the guidance of Mr. Frampton. Junior Yolanda Redondo gave her service to the school while working in the Language Arts Office. This is arranged through the Distributive Education classes. She helped keep the many materials in order. .MH ygsyycr, ky. W E' y 1 'rU ' , ' if f fi 5 .5 Kenneth Ferrymon Miss Karen Baker English 3-4, 5-6 Latin s M 3 A -4' 9 1 .L .
