Vanaja Vanaia roamed the halls of PHS. From class to class she went in her search for knowledge and friendship in a new country. By the end of the year she had found both and was ready to return to India with her memories. The American Field Service ex- change student arrived in Tucson in Au- gust and was plunged into a whirl of ac- tivities from that day forth. A reception party was held for her and when school started, she was introduced to the stu- dent body in a series of assemblies, Along with play, there was also work for the student. Interested in becom- ing a doctor, she took subjects that would aid her in that field. Biology and physics seminars put her in competition with the top PHS students. Vanaja will have memories ot Pu- eblo, and all those who attended during her year will have memories of Vanaia. . I o 0 0 if ,B Q it '-v-ss... Saris, yards of gracefully folded silk, were worn occasionally to remind PHS students of Vanaia's homeland. I4 .ash
