The Council completed a busy year with their final May meeting after compiling a slate of recommendations for their successors. , VT is-ff--. s Y 5'-ff' Among the important projects discussed and acted upon by the Council during the past year have been: Student Council and Traditions Committee pins, Anni- versary Day, the School Calendar, School traditions, the planning and con- duct of student activities, the promotion of money-making schemes for the sup- port of the school activity program, and anumber of similar projects concerning the we lfar e of the student body as a whole. Pueblo's council consisted of 66 delegate members plus the ten member Executive Council The advisory body was composed of the five student body officers four class presidents and the chairman of the Traditions Committee. Delegates to the C ounc il are selected by each home room. Me e ting s were held each Monday, throughout the school year, in two sessions. 4 Pueblo was host to the executive group from the Yuma stude nt council in a joint planning session in January. Organizational problems were the major subjects for discussion. The Pueblo group played an important par t in the organization of an inte r- city Student Council. The Commercial Art Class, unde r the supervision of Mr. Herb Waesch, continued this year in the tradition they initiated in 1957, our first year in the Pueblo buildings, by creating a mural in chalk and pastels. The project was a cooperative class effort. First, the group decided upon an idea they desired to have carried out, then each individual in the class executed his own conception of the idea. When the individual pictures were displayed, the class decided by vote which of the several conceptions they wished t- produce. All m embe r s of the class par- ticipated in the actual drawing. The finished product was a striking panel. The blue-clad figure of the Virgin was surrounded by an aura of yellow. Between the overcast sky and the grey-white snow was a division of purple hills. Purple, too, were the robes of the singers. The houses and trees were done in shades of red, brown, yellow, and green. R LIDICD-VISUAL CLUB Operation and maintenance of Pueblo's sound and projection equipment, the handling of stage lighting and sound, and the operation of sound equipment for other school activities are am ong the dutie s of the Audio-Visual Club, directed by Mr. Phillip Woodruff, audio-visual chairman. There are two divisions of club membershipg the se nior members who have two or more years of experience, and the regular mem- bers who are invarious stages of learning the multiple tasks of the group. Fullcredit for the enjoyment the student body gets from its library is due to the librarian, Mrs. Murvise Odom. Mrs. Odom believes that pleasant surroundings e nh anc e the attraction of good books. CAREER For its second straight year, the Pueblo Guidance staff ar - ranged and conducted ca- reer conferences forthe purpose of acquainting stu- dents with the problems and outlook in many of the vo- cations and professions they intend to pursue upon grad- u a t io n. T h e conferences, this year, were held for small groups of sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Outside speakers representing 47 dif- ferent occupational and professional fields spoke to the interested groups. Student chairmen met each of the speakers upon arrival and escorted them to the conference. The Fie sta has grown each year and is a major activity in which alm o st every Pueblo student has a part. Last Fall saw the second burning of the Tr ojan Horse an event that com- m emorate s the annual Pueblo High School-Catalina High School football game. The burning of the symbol precedes the game and is arranged as the clim ax of a snake dance and pre- game procession.
