The Friendly School, Pueblo Cothollc High The halls of PCH have seen many awkward, giggling Freshmen, but none as typical as the Class of '56. How well we remember our first Retreat with Monsignor James O'Neill as retreat master . . . football and basketball victories-and defeats, too . . . the novelty of rushing to lockers . . . changing classes . . . extracurricular activities . . . Pep club formations . . . and the forming of Our Lady's Sodality . . . the Dogma of the Assumption of Our Lady was declared during this year. Sophomore year found us feeling more at home at PCH . . . the Holy Father, Pope Pius Xll officially opened the Marian Year, December 8 . . . every class made Marian Year proiects and tributes . . . illuminated manuscripts, geometric posters . , . the yearbook was dedicated to the Holy Father who had made the Marian Year possible . . . and we all tried to become more like Mary in our daily lives . . . we remember the bonfire . . . CSMC Masquerade Ball . . . the Tatler social . . . Coach Ed Murray resigned . . . Coach John Neari replaced him . . . the Tatler received All-Catholic, All-American, and Medalist awards . . . Our Superintendent, Father Voss, became the Very Reverend Monsignor Voss . . . Father Louis Stovik, athletic director and dean of discipline, returned to parish work . . . at the last assembly of the year, we were told that we could no longer drive cars to school . . . the Junior-Senior Prom, Enchanted Garden made us realize that next year would be our turn. Father Gerard OSB gave our retreat. Our Junior Year . . . how fortunate we are . . . Christ has come to dwell with us in the Blessed Sacrament in our school Chapel . . . He was here when we returned to school . . . the advantages and graces which are now ours, are innumerable . . . seventeen Shamrocks attended the CSMC convention at Notre Dame . . . Father Charles Jones of Denver gave three separate days of recollection instead of the usual three day retreat . . . we did not miss our cars as much as we expected to . . . we gave the Homecoming Dance and named it Marian Whilrl to honor Our Lady , . . Mary's year ended December 8 . . . our beloved classmate, Roberta Riley, died of bulbar polio, January 14, 1955, after an illness of five days . . . she has become our Heavenly advocate . , . we ask for all our favors through her . . . Father Daniel Huber became our assistant principal and spiritual director . . . Father gave us the advantage of Confession every Wednesday if we wished it . . . we began a track team with Frank Flood coaching . . . we gave the Junior-Senior Prom, Melody in May and chose Sally Beatty for our Queen . . . we crowned Our Lady Queen of May, with Rosemarie De Tata placing the flower crown on her head . . . we won the SCPL baseball championship . , . and started buying football tickets from our favorite Homecoming Queen candidate . . . we elected our class officers for '56 and voted on voting machines in Student Council primary elections . . . Jim Massara we chose for the fourth straight year as our class president. Our Senior Year was the most perfect . . . the climax of four wonderful years . . . in time, the faces will be forgotten . . . so will be the fun . . . but never will we forget the friends we have made at PCH. May all of us meet in Eternal Friendship.

We Remember . . . Father Jones gives us spiritual slams on life during our Junior reireaf. Y W Homecoming in '54 finds . . . The many opporiunities we were given to grow spiritualiy in grace, wisdom, and spirit. A 'Nay x P, us storming Heaven with united prayers. Our Sophomore retreat , . . Father Gerard Goetz O.S.B. of Holy Cross Abbey was our refreai master.

John Fagan, Jean Mathis, Lane Faricy, Arlene Vigil, Mary Ann Baum, Jeanne Spitzer, Sherman French. We, the students of Pueblo Catholic High School, humbly offer to our Bishop, Joseph Clement Willging, D.D .... our friendship. Your Excellency, you are our friend . . . as the shepherd of our souls, you lead Ll' . . . you care for us spiritually, giving us food, shelter and security for our souls . . . your love of Christ and your fellow men are the basis for our friendship. As First Shepherd of our souls in the New Diocese of Pueblo, we see new churches springing up, social improvements . . . deepening of the religious roots by increase in vocation . . . and general improvements throughout Southern Colorado. We thank you, Bishop Willging . . . for the chapel in our school . . . this gives us a special way to sanctify and bless each and every student at school . . . You dedicated this, and it is a milestone to you . . . as it is dedicated to St. Joseph, your patron saint. The devotion and love you have for St. Therese is localized in our school . . As is the love you have for us. Thank you, Your Excellency, for the opportunity to know and to love you . . Our life would not be complete without your Friendship.
