Since his appointment, Bishop Willging has taken great strides toward making this diocese flourish. Under his planning, organizing and building, many new schools and parishes have come into existence and numerous other projects have been successfully completed. This is an eventful year in your lives. It marks the end of your high school course during which you have been given the opportunity to strengthen the foundations, begun in the school of your homes, for the building of your future careers. Your faith, fortified by the development of the understanding of the fundamental doctrines of the Church, will ever be the cornerstone of your conduct and confirm you in the peace and happiness of right living. It will be the guarantee of the attainment of the ultimate purpose of your existence-eternal life. The school you are now leaving has provided the proper balance in the great fun- damentals of true education, the essentials of religion, human relations, abstract and physical sciences, and the humanities. By it you are equipped to live a truly cultured life, to keep harmony in your own soul, and to contribute harmony of spirit to the world of your associations in the practice of the divine, the moral and the civic virtues. Contact with the faculty that has contributed so much to the development of your Christian character should never be broken. It is the strong anchor that will give you a sense of security in moments of indecisiong the memory that will keep fruitful its salutary counsels and shining example, the golden threads that will weave themselves into your pattern of life and give close unity with all your associates at Catholic High.
