A look Into the Future Pruden Tennessee May 18 1965 The soc1al event of the season occurs ton1ght w1th the weddxng of one of Pruden s outstandmg c1t1zens M1ss Bobb1e Jones M1ss Jones former schoolteacher has made her home 1n Pruden s1nce 1955 when she gave up teach1ng to go 1nto the coal bus1ness The wedd1ng ton1ght w1l1 also serve as a reumon for the Pruden Hlgh School Class of 55 All members of the class are expected to be present to g1ve the1r best W1ShES to the1r former class sponsor Many of them are now world famous known for the1r achlevements 1n all walks of 11fe The dress MISS Jones w1ll wear was d6S1gHed by Rachel Faulkner now a famous dress des1gner She and her well known model Lora June Douglas have just returned from a tr1p to Par1s Barbara W11l1ams mus1cal comedy star of stage and screen w1ll Slng at the weddmg and the receptxon wh1ch w11l follow In prlvate l1fe Barbara 1S marr1ed to Dr Tommy Jones Mrs .T1mmy Hurst the former Betty Rose Faulkner Wlll play the musxc for the wedd1ng For tme receptlon she w1ll be Jomed by B111 Gaylor and Paul RICE who are now wlth Tommy Dorsey s Band B111 plays the accord1on and we hear he makes some extra money occas1ona1ly by play1ng on street corners He says he w1l1 soon have h1s monkey pa1d for 1n full Paul plays the v1o11n I-hs 1nterest 1n th1s 1nstrument grew out of the band h1S class had called the Hepcats wh1ch some of you readers may re member The decorat1ng for the wedd1ng and recept1on w1ll be done by Jennxe Ann Lansden Ed1tor of McCall s and an outstand1ng art deslgner She has also estabhshed an old ma1d s home 1n Dayton Oh1o B111 McCay who has made the A1r Force h1S career w1l1 fly h1S jet plane 1D from Cal1forn1a thxs afternoon Ella Mae H111 w1l1 be one of h1s spec1al passengers She was recently voted the world s fastest talker Homer Dav1s coach at the Un1V8fS1tY of Ken tucky w1ll also be one of h1s passengers Homer has been to Ca11forn1a to accept h1s award as Coach of the Year Georgla Archer who recently took over the role of Ma n the Ma Kettle f11ms w11l complete the passenger 11st Georg1a 1S now marr1ed to the A1r Force Command1ng Off1cer Harold Go1ns Ona Lee W1lder model for Modern Romance magaz1ne 15 expected here th1s afternoon She w11l be met at the tra1n by her good frlend Betty Graham who 15 now Pres1dent of Lmcoln Memor1al Un1vers1ty Betty has bu1lt L M U up unt11 lt IS now one of the largest un1vers1t1es 1n the south Charles Hamblln returned yesterday f1na11y' from Flor1da He went there 1n 1955 w1th the Sen1ors Charlene Allen head nurse at Clear Fork Cl1h1C Charles Stephens B111 Perk1ns and Cordell Randolph all members of the Class of 55 w1l1 also be present Charles owns and operates Dayton s largest parkmg lot He IS marr1ed to the former Nell Parrott B111 and Cordell own the Randolph and Perkms Motor Co formerly Ford Motor Co They man ufacture the new Vvh1zz'nob1le B111 IS marr1ed to Sue McFarland and they have ten ch1l dren F1ve sets of tw1ns Cordell IS st1ll a bachelor As anyone who was around P H S 1n 55 can tell you when th1s gang gets together somethmg 1S bound to happen So be sure and read tomorrow s Da11y Blab for a complete wr1te up of ton1ght s aCt1V1t1eS 1 1 1 1 - 1 1 1 . , . - 1 1 ' ' 1 1 - 1 1 ' ' 1 1 . 1 . , . . Class Huston' ln the month of September of the year of 1951 about sxxty qulet Freshmen enrolled at Pruden Hlgh School The followmg off1cers were elected to gu1de the Freshman Class Presmdent .Tenme Lansden V1ce Pres1dent Nell Parrott Secretary and Treasurer Barbara W1ll1ams Sponsor John Young Ira Cadle was elected cheerleader from our class The large Freshman Class was d1v1ded 1nto two groups the A and B groups whlch competed agamst each other After our quxet Freshman year only twenty n1ne returned as Sophomores Slnce th1s was the flrst t1me for our class to become a whole It was d1ff1cult for us to get along but our sponsor M1ss Bobble Jones some how through the year got us orgamzed We elected the followlng as our off1cers Presldent Betty Faulkner V1ce Presxdent Rosella Long Secre tary and Treasurer Barbara W1ll1ams Reporter Joanne Moore Ceorgla Archer Rosella Long and Barbara W1ll1ams were elected cheerleaders out of the Sophomore Class Then came our blg Jumor year Only twenty three of us returned as .Tumors The off1 cers were Presldent Homer Davls V1ce Pres1dent B111 Gaylor Secretary Paul Rlce Chapla1n Betty Faulkner Reporter Jenme Lansden Sponsor 1Vl1ss Bobble Jones The co operat1on of the Jumor Class was slmply wonderful One of the blggest events of our Juruor year was our play SAY IT WITH FLOWERS Later on xn the year came our hay r1de and skatlng party 1n La Follette Last but not least came our .Tumor and Semor Banquet whlch was g1ven at L1ttle Tunnel Inn on Apr1l Z3 1954 After the banquet there was a party held at the Coca Cola plant at M1ddlesboro A p1cn1c at B1g Rldge Park w1th the other We have struggled through the past three years and have reached the most d1gn1f1ed stage of our hmgh school l1fe Th1s year of 1954 55 only e1ghteen of us enrolled as Semors of Pruden Hlgh We are proud to announce that we have our former sponsor M1ss Bobb1e Jones w1th us agaxn We elected class off1cers as follows Pres1dent Homer Dav1s V1ce Presldent Charles Steplens Secretary Jenme Lansden Treasurer Georg1a Archer Re porter Betty Faulkner We have two cheerleaders from the Sen1or Class Barbara W1ll1ams and Ona Lee Wllder One of the b1g events of th1s school year was our Sneak Day whlch we spent at the T V A and l Faxr at Knoxv11le Tennessee We all had a wonderful t1me The Sen1ors were real proud and I'eJO1C6d over w1nn1ng the Intramural Tournament wh1ch took place at the beglnmng of the school year The trophy 1S the Sen1ors most valued pos sesslon As you are readmg thas the school year of 54 55 has ended But as we the Sen1or Class of 55 are wrxtmg lt we are lookmg forward to several events Flrst the Sen1or play We hope lt w1ll be as good as our Junxor play Second the Jumor and Sen1or Banquet We are sure lt w1ll be an event we w1ll always remember w1th pleasant thoughts Thlrd we are looklng forward to graduatxon day w1th gladness that at last we have ach1eved at least part of what we set out to do Last but not least IS our Sen1or tr1p We are breakxng the trad1 t1on thxs year by go1ng to Florxda rather than Washmgton It was the unan1mous dec1s1on of the Sen1or Class to go to Daytona Beach F1or1da for a few days of relaxat1on and fun before takmg our places 1n the bus1ness world So we go forth 1nto the world not know1ng what tr1a1s may awalt us 1n the Journey of l1fe but we w1ll face them w1th the knowledge strength and courage whlch we have learned FAREWELL' classes of P.H.S. ended the school year of '53-'5-4.
