The highlight of Mrs. Clark's English class was the weekly reading day according to Linnaea Harrison, Selene Sandburg, and Ronald Persons. Judy Carling took advantage of oral reading opportunities offered by Mrs. Taylor in her English class. Reading, recording experiences, discussing good books, and mastering spelling and punctuation were only a few of the many activities that went on in the English department. -21- English II English III German I German II Calvin H.  One world was the topic under discussion as Mr. Hughes pointed out a strategic spot on the globe to Jay McGregor, Sally Thorne and Lynn Powell. All of the present is rooted in the past. This was the sincere belief of the history teachers who tried to interpret world affairs and modern civilization in the light of what had gone before. Teachers and students alike based their studies on the theory that the hope of democracy was an enlightened citizenry. Memorizing dates and names for tomorrow's history test required real concentration. I i
