Dear Students: Many years ago the members of the Provo High School selected as their emblem, the bulldog. Over the years each student group has tried to uphold the attributes of quality found in the bulldog. Both have tenacity of purpose. The bulldog in spite of his ferocious appearance is a friendly creature, and the student at Provo High School tends to create a friendly atmosphere in all areas of school life. The bulldog sets his teeth and jaws and hangs on when the fight is tough. So also does the pupil see clearly his goals and hangs on until he has a-chieved them. Here in the pages of this yearbook you will find many examples of the character qualities that make both great. May you, as the years roll by, live again the activities pictured here and receive full enjoyment from this annual. Principal Tregeagle and Assistant Principal Denham were kept busy checking registrations and helping students arrange their classes. Sincerely, D. V. Tregeagle Left: A trophy, won by 1954 speech classes, was received by the principal. Superintendent Moffitt asked Mrs. Taylor's opinion of the model of the new high school. -13-

November 16, 1954 Students of Provo High School: It is always an honor to extend greetings to the grand young people who are at Provo High School. It is a humbling experience to plan and work for you. You are the genuinely grand Americans. We regret all of you cannot graduate from the new Provo High School. Some will do so. But all of you must know this is only a material symbol of your great worth. It is an expression of Provo's confidence in you and your future. Cordially, J. C. Moffitt Superintendent -12-

Dr. Whitlock, student coordinator, served the students by issuing work permits, helping them to discover their vocational interests and abilities, and participating in worthwhile educational projects throughout the school and community.
