After being properly initiated, drama enthusiasts who met nationwide requirements became members of the National Thespian Society. These Thespians then devoted themselves to the advancement of the dramatic arts by ushering at school plays, sponsoring an assembly, and improving their individual talents. Officers were: DiAnn Price, president; Karen Dixon, secretary; Douglas Purvance, vice-president; and Kaye Burrup, scribe. The Phi Gamma Psi sought to promote lasting friendships, to encourage social development, and to further intellectual, ethical, and moral ideals. This group met once a month to enjoy inspirational and informative lectures. As a project, they sponsored the Christmas assembly and dance. Officers were: Joan Brown, vice-president; Eileen Craythorn, president; Mrs. Vesta Barnett, advisor; Sara Gess-ford, secretary; Sondra Cameron, social chairman. Ginger Williams, Janet Carter and Gloria Weight cheerfully took their turn at preparing refreshments which were served after each Phi Gamma Psi meeting. Resolved that the federal government should initiate a policy of free trade among nations friendly to the United States. This question preoccupied members of the Debate Club who participated in the Weber Invitational Meet and in the regional debate meet at West High School. Members of the club were: Row 1, Jane Hickman, Bill Bordeaux, president; JoAnne Alger, Mickey Alger. Row 2, James Bunnell, June Dahle, Danielle Christiansen, Annette Johnson, Joan Williams. Row 3, Woodrow Whitlock, Patti Hiatt, Frances Groneman, Mrs. Gayle Bishop, adviser.
