Provo High School bi-weekly newspaper, has brought the school nation-wide recognition by gaining high honor ratings in two contests —one sponsored by National Scholastic Press Association in connection with University of Minnesota, and the other one by Columbia Scholastic Press Association of Columbia University. New York City. No other high school paper in Utah has achieved national recognition over a similar period of years. As it now exists it is comprised of camera mad devotees who would look for a new angle in the curves of a bathing beauty. This is as noble a group of pedalists as ever blistered a thumb on the ozone. Finding that the hike to Maple Flat promoted a spirit of walking home from every party, ice skating was introduced by the slickers, and then swimming, which was finally terminated by a tramp in the woods. Not to be discouraged by Mahomet's failure to make the mountain come to him, these stalwarts shifted castles, lakes, vistas, and even a century of time to satisfy the whims of opera and stage directors. There have been few major casualties due to someone's running behind the flats with the effect of an earthquake on the pictures on the wall, because of the vigilance of this group. Two heart-breaking losses, one each to American Fork and Lehi. accounted for the Bulldog's third place ranking. Three victories over 1937 state tournament entries were recorded. The highlight was a win over Lehi. who finished second in the state. Throughout the season the team was noted for its sportsman-like conduct and for its undying fight and determination. The training was of the highest type. Truly, the 1937 edition of the Provo High School basketball team will go down in history as one of the greatest ever to represent Provo High School.
