The application of mathematics is essential in today's soci- ety. Proviso West's math program prepares students for the chal- lenges of today and for the problems of the future. Classes ranging from Math Fundamentals and Algebra to Geometry and Calculus enables Proviso students to solve math related difficulties Within their society. With the age of scientific technology ever on the rise, an individual must have a solid understanding of mathemat- ical concepts. Science Explores The Unknown Forever, man has tried to answer the questions How? and Why? The Sci- ence Department is helping students find the answers. In General Science, stu- dents learn about the world around them. In Biology, students investigate man and animal and how they exist together. Chemistry allows students to watch what happens when certain chemicals are mixed together. Physics students suffer through hours of problems looking for the mass, the constant, or the moment of inertia. All students must prove their conclusions carefully and present them as clear as possible. The Art Here at Proviso West, students are able to take a variety of artistic classes. These classes include drawing, pottery, painting, and music. One does not have to be a Rem- brandt or a Beethoven to enjoy the plea- sures these classes have to offer. One sim- ply has to have the desire to achieve a high- er goal. Artistic classes are a break from the daily routine of reading, Writing, and arith- metic. Yet, art classes are still beneficial to a person because a student can then devel- op a creative imagination. All these courses are highly recommended for broadening one's horizon.
