Their overall record of five wins, and 12 losses reflects their defensive ef- forts and last minute turnarounds which resulted in their wins. Even though they did not take the Confer- ence, they still were determined to win and accomplished a 2-8 conference re- cord. Coach Nettleton stated that each player put forth an extra effort as the season progressed. The success of this season was not due to the number of games won but rather the determina- tion of each individual to try her har- dest. SOPH GIRLS SET FUTURE STANDARDS For his first year coaching, Coach Stavro- john found out what guiding a team with a good attitude can be-enjoyable. Although they finished with a 1-12 conference record Q 1-17 overall? in 7th place, the team's spirits were always high. Their victory over Hinsdale Central was the most memorable. After one of the start- ing five fouled out, the Sophomores had to finish the game with only four girls, and they still won. Comments Coach Stavrojohn, All the girls were outstanding in their own way because each of them made tremendous progress throughout the course of the season. With a record of 8-8, they showed their ability to adjust to the many situations which arose both offensively and defensively. This particular freshman team will be remem- bered as the first freshman team to have fin- ished with a winning record in many years. Coach Sible stated that all of our team mem- bers were outstanding in some way. All of the team members provided ample contribu- tions to the team. The freshman team will pro- vide Proviso with the needed ability for a bon- bardment of victories in the future.
