These young ladies work very hard to perfect difficult underwater moves. Their performance involves more than just splashing. These students must show perfect control at all times be- cause they are always moving. Their ac- tions must be precise, their movements in control. The Marinettes work hard all year to perfect their spring show. They are the pride of Proviso's pool area. The Talk 0f The Town The Speech Team of Proviso West High School is composed of students dedicated to the arts of competitive speaking and acting. These are eleven individual events at each IHSA Samctioned Speech Tourna- ment. The tournaments are on Saturdays from October thru January with the Fie- gional, Sectional, State, and Tournament of Champions meets being held in the month of February on each Saturday. This year, Proviso West will be hosting a tourna- ment on Saturday, January 2. Over 400 students from 25 schools will participate. Sam Gulinc is the Captain, and Gesela Vega is the manager of the Proviso West Speech Team. 53
