Latin, French, German, Russian, and Spanish are taught by instructors who have either been born or have studied abroad. The sight and sound concepts are stressed through films, periodie cals, foreign flash cards, and records. The library also aids the language students with its eight hundred tapes and twenty listening post stations. This year three new pilot courses used the Audiolingual Method for learning languages for functional use through films, records, and intensive practice in speaking in everyday situations, Already many honors have been received through the Latin and Modern Language students. Each year contestants participate in State or national exami- nations. Besides examinations and preparing dialogues, Latin students organized R.O.M.E. under the sponsor- ship of Miss Farrell and Miss Nissim which enjoyed classical films and plays and trips to places of interest.
