As principal of Proviso Vvest, Mr. Stubbs sees Proviso as the face of academic excellence. Principal and asf sistant superintendent since 1958, he has continued to advance the school in its academic activities and com- petitions. lVlr. Stubbs has shown his skill in teaching, organization, and adniinistration. Since his coming to Proviso Township in l925 as a history teacher, he has been a senior boys' counselor, has headed Eastis his- tory department, and directed the first evening school in the township. Now, as principal of Proviso Wlest, he enjoys watching the faces of young people engrossed in activities contributing to their growth and maturity. lle believes the good sportsmanship and citizenship ol' Vvestis students is an active part of development. llis concern is that students accept the responsibility for their future rights and privileges. Dr. Vifidergren is also in charge of Publicity, releasing information about school activities to newspapers, and preparing the bulletin, Your High School Pxeportsfl After receiv- ing his BA. degree from Beloit College, Dr. Witlergreii obtained his lXf'l.A. from the University ol' lowa and his Ed. D. at Vvyoniing University. As father of three young children, his interest in extending and expanding edu- cation to all high school students is a personal one.
