A TYPICAL DAY AT WEST BEGAN AT 8:10 as students released from A Building slammed lockers, accumulated their books, and crowded through the halls to homerooms. The shrill vibrations of the bell, period after period, signaled the repetition oi the orderly storm of feet hurrying to class or library. Midway came lunch, blessed interval of food and gossip around the long tables in the cafeteria. Symbol of the daily routine of school activity were the monitors, picking up attendance slips or checking passes from their posts throughout the buildings. PROVISO WEST GRADUATES TURNED EAGERLY TOWARD PLANS for the future as they clutched diplomas and tossed tassels to the correct sides of their mortar boards. To the freshmen of 1960, senior year seemed distant and settled but as seniors in 1964 the year actually was full of tension and uncertainty about college and vocational plans. The eve- ning of June 8 was made more dramatic with talk of the past, and reminiscences of monthly fun nights, weekly Profiles, and daily home- work. So, on graduation night, the faces of Proviso changed as each student turned toward his individual goals and left West and high school memories behind. The faces of teachers, the face of the building, and the expressions of all experiences lingered for one secure moment then faded in the frenzy of future plans.
