ARRESTINGLY, CLEANLY BEAUTIFUL, the buildings of Proviso West catch the eye of even the casual visitor, but West is more than an interesting example of contemporary architecture. In the early Warmth of spring a glow falls across the mall that is not entirely a reflection of sunlight on rosy brick. The view from the Windows of buses Waiting in the circle drive on an autumn afternoon includes something beyond mere Walks and Walls and, in Winter, when crystalled Windows Wink across the icy dark, the illumi- nation is not altogether a matter of fluorescent light on snow. For the true face of Proviso West is vivid in every season with the pulsing vitality of the thousands of students who Work and study there.

SPRING CAME WITH A WHOOSH DANGLING FROM THE CEILING of the gym-the gay, abstract theme of the Girls, League Sock Hop where couples, sauntering shoelessly, admired the unusual decorations. Easter brought seven inches of snow but West's traditional springtime activities moved along on schedule. The Student Council planned for all-school elections and the elec- tion board, instructed the candidates, re- garding their qualification speeches before final presentation. Bow Week posters included at least one which turned the current en- thusiasm for the Beatles toward class loyalty.
