Sponsor Mr. Philip Pilgrim nr me S ln inn me in 9' An air of conliusion mixed with discovery accompanied the freshman class of 1967 into Proviso. Alleviating this confusion after the first several months were Proviso Pete, the Redbook, and identification cards which enahled Iireshmen to unlock the door to success- liul high school lite. Among the multitude ol? new experiences were fun nights, the class party, home- coming, and the several all-school dances. This year many freshmen participated in the honors program which cnahles them to carry extra suhjects, honors classes, or skip certain hasic courses. New areas of study of- liered to the lireshmen are algehra, foreign languages, and technical and applied sciences. Earning honor roll status and seals comprised another new academic prac- tice. Concluding their first year, the freshmen chose their hasic courses of study for their remaining three years. On the lighter side of their lives, frosh can look forward to a life free from water fountain dunk- ings and elevator passes. These humorous pranks were pulled on Freshmen and are an expected part of every studentis heginning year at Proviso West High School. Slunding: Treasurer Cheryl Dorenbos, Vice-President Paul Smilh. Sitting: President Bob Gonzales, Secretory Sandy Kuh.
