Glimaxing last year's track season was the trip to the state meet by Westls mile relay team and Ed Victor, dis- cus thrower. ln addition to the performances in the state meet, the Panther cindermen captured first place in the Interim League meet. The four mile relay team of Letterer, Bowman, Grant, and Katz earned national recognition. Coach Griep is building this year's team around his many and adequate distance runners and weight men. The Cat track team posses the three fast- est milers in the state in Letterer, Bowman, and Grant, who can also double as 880 men. Proviso's Bill Smith is expected to set records in the shot and discus while preparing for the state meet. The four mile relax' team of Letterer, Bowman, Grant, and Katz will undoubtedly set a national record. Displaying their power and prow- ess, Panther cindermen coasted to a 87-31 victory in their first meet. Coach Griep hopes this performance was a foreshadowing of future events for his '64 track season. Coach Griep carefully observes his runners warm up during early spring practice session. Shotpuiter Bill Smith concentrates on form before beginning the glide Rich Kopanda clears the bar at twelve feet with more than a foot to spare and putting the shot.
