Varsity swimmers Doug Reagan, Roy VanCIeave, Art Stark, and Frank Novak congratulate each other on receiving Little All-America Awards. Continuing in the established fashion, the varsity swim! mers completed an excellent season record of 12-l. Dut- ing the season, Paul Kobierski set a school record of 4:2O.3 in the 400fyard frecstyleg and Prank Novak equaled his own school record in the 5Oeyard freestyle. Wlests divers Les Vlcber and Dave hlrizek executed with precision their diyesg thus contributing to the many victories of Proyiso's mermen. Competing in the Des Plains Valley meet at Proyiso Xklcst, the mermen swam away from all opposition to capture their second con- secutive league title. Art: Stark, swimming the 200-yard individual medley, clinched fifth place in the State meet. These combined efforts enabled the Cat swimmers to secure ninth place in the state meet. Novak, Rcagen, Stark, and Van Cleave earned Little All-America Awards because of their outstanding performance on the 200-yard free- style relay team, Next year's prospects were good hef cause of the many strong juniors and sophomores who helped splash Proviso toward wins.
