Romans of the Modern Era was open to all students pres- ently enrolled in a Latin class or with a hacliground of two years of the language. Under the direction of Miss Ann Farrell, the officers were based on the form of Roman government including two consuls, one censor, two trihunes, two gualstores, and three aediles. The meetings were held every other weelt and induction was twice a year. The main purposes of ROME were to cre- ate enthusiasm for the Latin language, Roman customs, history, and culture. The cluh also hoped to reinforce the value of study of Latin as related to our modern life. R.O.M.E. White Gloves Guide Bewildered Audiences With enthusiasm at the beginning of the evening, weak arms, aching feet, and tired muscles when it ends, Proviso girls handed out stacks of programs at most of Westis activities. Under the sponsorship of Mrs. Giselle I-Iorack and student assistant Garol Neruda the Ush- erettes club organized seating and viewing for the au- dience's best enjoyment.
