Romans of the Modern Era was open to all students pres- ently enrolled in a Latin class or with a hacliground of two years of the language. Under the direction of Miss Ann Farrell, the officers were based on the form of Roman government including two consuls, one censor, two trihunes, two gualstores, and three aediles. The meetings were held every other weelt and induction was twice a year. The main purposes of ROME were to cre- ate enthusiasm for the Latin language, Roman customs, history, and culture. The cluh also hoped to reinforce the value of study of Latin as related to our modern life. R.O.M.E. Dance Show Opens With Calender Curtain Call Levels, heavy movements, and focus soon hecame Part ol the Or-chests Working vocabulary as the 180 mcmluers studied various techniques and theories. Beginning in lane uary, girls practiced the skill of graceful choreography as they prepared for the Dance Show in March. Meeting weclily, study groups practiced dances which included character, tap, ballet, modern, and acrohatic study. Planned around a calendar theme, the dances represcntf ed the twelve months of the year. Following the evening Perl'onnance on Saturday, the girls who were in luegine ning O1-chcsis, became regular memhcrs of the cluh. The satisfaction ol: designing, buying, and rnaliing costumes lor the show called for more than just dancing talent. By coordinating costumes to dance theme, Proyiso's Orchesis show was produced with professional unity. 1...
