PTHSers Whirl From Exams to Ellie Etght Breathing a sigh of relief, we put all thoughts of exams out of mind until June. Student Councils lullecl us into a dreamy mood with I learts in Hcavenl' and iilfnights of lleartsfl VVe were saddened at the death of Mrs. Alma Knoeppel on February 17. She was attending the annual meeting of the American Association of School Administrators in Atlan- tic City, New Jersey. Provisoites lent national charities a helping hand by Charity Week campaigns. VVest PTA sponsored the Mardi Gras and Panthers hostecl the Music Festival featuring East and Vlfvest groups with Oak Park songsters as guests. After chewing their fingernails to the elhow, East seniors received notification of their election to Nl IS. Close on the heels of the West variety show, Girls, League decked us out in hows. Modern dancers at East whirled us into dance late in March. The snow kept falling and so did Pirate foes as the cagers worked their way to a Sweet Sixteen spot in the IHSA, the first in 24 years. AS a final triumph, the team traveled downstate to lluff Gymnasium and performed in the Elite Eight tourney. East's cheerleaders coppccl the title of All-State Cheerleaders for precision and go-go-go spirit. CHAMPAIGN, WE'RE ON our way! Co-captains Ron tYogi Bearl Buchan- an and Dave tBig Kwil Kwiatkowski eye newly-won sectional trophy. THOUGH THEIR HEARTS are in heaven, these boys need a cool drink of punch to quench their earthly thirst at West's Valentine dance. lv!
