As freshmen, our guide wus the Bed Book as well as Big Brothers, Big Sisters, teachers, und any sym- pathetic by-stunclers. A few bumps on the head soon taught us to tloclge the swinging door ol' our upper locker. VVe also learned that one way signs do not only apply to streets. Although the addition of a new class euusecl un unfami- liar bulge in our hulls, the bulging pile of homework we took home every night was not in the least unfamiliar. fi X R fin 'W 1 S F oothall parks Panther, Pirate Spirit for a Win The sound of shoe leather against Pigskin always sends an excited ripple through the stadium. Chanting cheerleaders and swishing shake-a-roos lend static to the crisp fall air as football fever invades East and West. Football and fall become synonymous to Provisoites. Even though both Pirate and Panther gridders came out on the short end of the win record, the thrill and excitement of a good game still drew the lusty cheers of avid fans. Homecoming brings the height of the season at East. The gaily-decorated stadium welcomed alums to watch their alma mater vie for honors. From the traditional white mums and parade of colorful cars around the track to the last dance of the Fifth Quarter, Homecoming was a red-letter day. WE ARE THE PIRATES! Mighty, mighty Piratesl Betty Baker leads the squad and crowd in an enthusiastic tribute to Proviso East. VISITING NILES CHEERLEADERS take a bow at the pep assembly, Zero Quarter, which launched this year's Homecoming festivities.
