Never before have so many students filled our halls - never again. Next year with the completion of Proviso West, enrollment in the present building will diminish. Not satisfied with having the biggest, we've attempted to make it the best Proviso ever. We'll remember this as a year of improvement and growth. Proviso began in l9l0 with eighteen teachers instructing 254 pupils. Eight years later a man wearing a face as familiar to Proviso students as the tower joined the faculty as a science teacher. ln l955 this man assumed an administrative position. Dur- ing the next twenty-four years our enrollment climbed to tisoo. Duties became proportionately too numerous for old-fashioned methods of record-keeping. He accepted the tremendous task of converting to the IBM system. Growth of any school eventually amounts to the same thing fe the need for increased lacilities. llours projecting enrollment ligures, alternoons spent consulting with the arcliitect he has taken time to transform a dream into a reality. 'l'he dream was a blueprint of Proyiso Wlest, an ultra-modern school with space in which to grow. The reality presents clean, symmetrical lines of brick and con- crete awaiting completion.
