The Rockefellers and Du Ponts have found, and Proviso students will find, these qualities helpful in a successful business career. In aiding the students, the department itself displays this spirit. Thirty years ago, the Com- mercial and Stenographic departments taught a combined total of ten subjects. Since then the department has expanded its program to seventeen courses. Two examples of special value to the student, office practice and voca- tional retailing, offer practical application of the abilities acquired in commercial courses. Since 1942, the Commercial department has sponsored the largest extracurricular organiza- tion in Proviso, the Future Business Leaders '- f g V' of America. Its members participate in activi- ' y. jul 1 ties designed to prepare them for a useful life y in business.
