Newcomer, of May- wood. secretary, Emery A. Pariehy, of Forest Park, president in 1933-1939, B. Leslie Allen. of Melrose Park, secretary in 1938-1939g Irvin C. Hendrickson, of Bell- wood. Each oilicer serves for one year, or until his successor is elected and qualified. The view you see now is the first edition of Proviso high school, erected in 1911, with an enrollment of 241. ln 1915, to the surprise of all, this new building was out- grown by an enrollment of 523 students. An addition was demanded which added to the original a library, a gymnasium. and a cafeteria, as well as more classrooms. In 1924. came yet another addition, complete with a swimming pool, a girls, gymnasium. and an enlarged auditorium. Shortly after this, the school bought more land, extend- ing north to W3ShlHg1llI1 boulevard, and east toward the Desplaines river. ln 1929, Classes were being held in the gymnasiums, library, and cafeteria, be- cause of the overflowing enrollment. A greatly increased plant was inevitable. The result was the edifice pictured here, joined gsrzlphed. the building, g:.'Ie:llnin,2.' in its newness. uns still surrounded with the debris ol' its construction lnuterinl.
