editorial This new edition of the Tech Art Record has been published with but one objective: to capture the entire year between its covers. To fulfill this objective takes long hours of thought and hard work on behalf of the Editorial Staff. In future years, if this book serves to relate to you, the reader and student, many fond memories and pleasures of the years gone by, it will then fulfill its entire purpose. There are always those, who put forth a sincere effort, but go unrecognized, those people I would like to thank on behalf of the staff for your time and effort. dedication HE WAS A BUILDER: When Ernest Wood died so suddenly last summer it was Tech’s sorrow to lose one who had enjoyed the deep affection reserved for a special member of the S.A.l.T. Administration. But it was more than that. It was a matter of lasting sadness to lose a friend who had helped in the building of Tech for more than thirty years, ten of them as principal. To say “he was a builder” is to speak the uncontrived words of fact, not the formal words of eulogy. Mr. Wood’s dedication to his work at the Institute in the terms of time and effort knew no limits. He was a friendly man, always interested in the welfare of both his staff and students. He was always the first to enquire, to comment, or to wish well. To the memory of Mr. Wood, we dedicate this 36th edition of the Tech Art Record. 2
