Foreword We, as teenagers of the twentieth century, are experiencing life in an era characterized by a cataclysmic technological development. Our late Holy Father, Pope Pius XII, has said that while our generation can be justly proud of this development we can never forget that these advances, though resulting from human talent and toil, are possible only because God has given man a dignity above the other works of His hands and has made all things subject to him. Man has been given the whole world and with it the task of achieving a perfect harmony in it and maintaining it . But, we see about us a con- X . x stant fight for power and achievement coupled with meaningless intolerance and bitter prejudices. In his quest for power and material gain, man seems to forget that the tools he uses-the forces and beauty of nature-come from the creative Hands of God, the Father of all mankind, for all mankind. lattstgjlhlhe 1959 PHILOTHEAN Staff has kept this unfortunate problem of man's forgetful- nes in depicting their idea of Brotherhood through the Sharing of the Gifts of God . eavenly Father did not give these gifts to a chosen few, but wished them to be equal ' to the waiting, open hands of the men of all races, all religions, and all classes to the achievement of their eternal happiness. Here, at Providence, practiced daily. Not only do P. H. S.'ers prac- tice togetherness ,in classroo through participation and discussion, but also in all extra-curricular and outside :: ap: ties. Their God-given talents are willingly and wholeheartedly shared-scholastically ' spiritually. In viewing these activities, u xx 'K . , K we see how brotherhood and true are one. ri Q Rat Love is long-suffering, love is kind, and is not envious, love brag, it is not conceitedg it is not ill-manneredg it is not self-seeking, it is not irritable, it no note of injury, it is not glad when injustice triumphs, it is glad when the truth to hope, always to be patient.
