' I 6 i VECTOR ALESSANDRO March S, 1956 TO THE STUDENTS OF PROVIDENCE HIGH SCHUOL: ,.f' Thank you for honoring me by dedicating you yearbook, The Philothean, to me. I accept this honor in the spirit that I am a representative of the part that music, the allied arts and the humanities play in our city. In a world that is increasingly being filled with the pressure and tension of living, it is most important that we believe strongly that humanity needs to emphasize more than ever the spiritual and cultural needs of human beings if our civilization is to progress. In so dedicating you yearbook it shows me that you and your faculty also realize this great importance. Nay I humbly offer you all my good wishes. Since annuals do not appear at the tap of a wand, or as this year would have it at the downbeat of a baton, we have reserved these two pages to introduce the Score writers of the Philothean. The STAFF recorded a years tune in pictures, prose, and art. Conducting the staff, helping it over the rough spots, and beating out a smooth tempo were achieved by the editor, Pauline Logan. Assisting her in the direction of this symphony was Leibe Bradicich, 1957 editor-elect. Because a song has to be composed, much delving into the musical field took the combined talents of Paula Johnston and Rita Gianotti, working along with Literary Editor Cynthia Vollmer, to produce the words for this melody. Drawing the lines on which the music was placed fell to the layout crew, Patsy Elder and Janet Yaeger, who did their share of ad-libbing in the composing field. This album needed a cover and sketches to sarry out the theme, so Staff Artist Doris Muckle and her assistant, Patti Popp, took brushes in hand and proved a picture is worth a thousand words. CNO reflection on the literary side.J Our advance agent, Business Manager Ann Nichols, with her apprentices, the Four Freshmennminus one, Doris juenke, Olga Aldrete, and Pat Dyess, helped herpromote and find backers for the show. Publicity shots were snapped by Photographer Ruth Ann Grams. Wfith this, the STAFF LINES are completed. 20 www-rfffi f '.it ' iiiiii V DORIS JUENKE -1-PATTI POPP Assistant Art Editor RUTH ANN GRAMS PAT DYESS DORIS IVIUCKLE Art Editor ANN NICHOLS OLGA ALDRETE PAULINE LOGAN Editor-in-chief The Philothean Presents its Recording Artists for the Noted Year 955- '56, giving you Moments Zto Re member 99 This is a view very hard forget, for each student at Provi- dence had to look at it at 3:15 daily as she came out of school. 22 Often the students are so en- grossed in just being students that they forget to look around them.
