THE COMRADE I3 taken. They evidently enjoy it. since great hilarity and joking is the aftermath of sitting for their pic- tures. But maybe there is another reason. The Easter Tuesday Assembly of the P. E. H. S. Association is one that brings together all the students of the school, together with the teachers and alumni. No doubt this event will be the success it has al- ways been in the past. There is no reason why it should not be, for the Social Committee are very active and already great enthusiasm is evi- denced in this social event. lt de- volves upon every student of the school to attend this dancing party, which will be held in Lily Academy on Easter Tuesday, April 9th, This will be the last opportunity of meet- ing classmates until next October, except, of course, in the case of indi- viduals. Therefore, the local Editor would like to meet those students in Lily Academy whom she has met every night in the corridors of the P. E. H. S. Mr. Michael F. Coyne, '08, the first President of the Providence Evening High School Alumni, and the present Treasurer of that Asso- ciation, will present the Alumni Medal on graduation night, to the student of the school having the best all round record for general ex- cellence. The Comrade will then be in the hands of its readers and takes this opportunity of congratulating the winner of the medal. The diplomas will be presented this year by the chairman of the Evening School Committee, james R. Cannon, Esq. A quartet composed of Margaret Deuso, Rosalie Ross, Mr. McManus and another member of the school, will render a selection graduation night. The students of the Class in De- portment, under the direction of Miss Mollie Gormley, will give an exhibition drill on the evening of April 4th. The class has done splen- did work this year and the drill, no doubt, will be very attractive and entertaining. Great surprises are in store for everyone, both students and teach- ers, on graduation night, if rumors which are heard prove true. The Class in Experimental Phy- sics, under the instruction of Mr. XYilliam I. Brown, enjoyed a de- monstration of many interesting microscopic specimens during a re- cent study of the microscope. Mr. Brown has been making a special study of rabies and his prepared slides of recent cases here in Provi- dence were closely observed by the members of the class. Among the students who will try the college entrance examinations this fall are Frank Fish, George Cumerford and George M. VVhite. The Easter dance is going to be the most successful event on the social calendar of the P. E. H. S. Af! Therefore, every student and teacher in the school should make an effort to be present on that occa- sion. --K. E. C. NAMES SUBMITTED FOR THE ALUMNI MEDAL. THE COMRADE I5 Hminnala EUGENIE M. KERN. Eugenie seems to have captured all the honors within reach, while she has been in the P. E. H. S. She has the unusual distinction of being the first young lady to be elected president of the graduating class in this school, she has been a member of the Social Committee since its formation, a member of the Editorial Board, secretary of the Board, sec-- retary of the Debating Society, a member of the debating team to de- bate on graduating night, and a member of all the Elocution Class productions which have been pre- sented during the last two years. So we can see that Eugenie has oh- tained an enviable record while in the school. Nor has it been confined to this school, for she won the An- thony Medal from the Branch Ave- nue School, and was the winner of a handsome diamond ring in a recent contest for the church, which she attends. It is a known fact that whatever she wants she usually gets, for her desire is always backed up with earnest and effective work. .If she continues at the rate she has been going since she has made her appearance among us, she will be one of the shining lights in history. And last, if not least, she is a char- ter member of the most select fra- ternity in the school, the C. H. R. G. Genie expects to be a teacher and will take the examinations in June. She is considered one of the most popular members of the school and we hope that the good record which she has accomplished here may con- tinue during life. MARY E. CROWLEY. The Bookkeeping Course is well represented in the graduating class by Miss Crowley. This is her fourth year in the school, but it will not be her last, as she hopes to return next fall. May's aim is to be a business woman. Her success in the com- mercial course looks as though her ambitions would be fulfilled, if she continues to do her good work. She is one of the quietest girls in the school, and has taken an active in- terest in the Elocution classes while in the school. She will have a prominent part in this year's sketch which is 'fthe event of graduation night. Z3 ROSE COYLE. Miss Coyle is the third youngest of the famous Coyle family. She is following in their footsteps and gives promise of equaling their rec- ords. Rose is graduating from the Standard Course, but intends to re- turn to school next year. VW: are all glad to hear this as we had great fears for the future of the P. E. H. S., in looking over the list of shining lights who are to leave, never to re- turn, after the 4th of April. Rose is much interested in the social affairs of the school, as she has been on the Social Committee for two years, she is secretary of the C. H. R. G., a member of the Debating Society, and secretary of the graduating class. ROY WILLISTON. Mr. XVilliston is the second one of the class who intends to become an evening school teacher. It isn't necessary to mention the other per- son, is it, Roy? Roy is a student from the Bookkeeping Class and will receive a diploma from that de- partment. He is one of the most popular members of the graduating
