Dear Students: More than ever before, the importance of a complete education is being stressed by the school, the church, business and society. For some of you, this will be your last year of formal schooling. It would indeed be a pity if you yourself did not now realize the importance of a good and complete education. I wish you the best of good wishes as you leave Provencher, and I sincerely hope that you will put the ed¬ ucation you have received to good use in your religious, business and social life. To be a success in your spiritual life is, of course, of supreme im¬ portance. Success in other fields of endeavour, I feel sure, will come if the spiritual is always well taken care of. The path of life is not en¬ tirely or always of a rosy hue, as you will no doubt soon learn. If your spiritual life is solid, you will be able to surmount any diffi¬ culties that may arise. In union with all the members of the faculty of Provencher Col¬ legiate, I wish you God’s choicest blessings and Mary’s loving protec¬ tion through the years that lie .ahead. Car il s’agira desormais pour chacun de vous de vous prouver a vous-memes, a vos parents et amis, a vos educateurs, au monde que vous n’avez pas perdu votre temps pendant ces annees d’instruction et d’education. Que vous avez assimile les legons regues. Que vous savez conformer votre vie quotidienne aux principes qu’on vous a inculques. Que vous etes capables de mettre au service de l’Eglise, de votre pays, de la societe les richesses intellectuelles et morales accumulees pendant tant d’annees. Laissez-moi vous donner un simple conseil d’ami a cette heure si grave de votre vie. Que desormais, plus que jamais, vous sachiez respecter l’echelle des valeurs dont on vous a munies! C’est-a-dire que “Dieu premier servi” soit votre premier guide. Vivant en Dieu et de Dieu, soyez des lumieres brillantes partout ou vous serez ou vivrez. Connaisse s-Le toujours plus intimement, aimez-Le toujours plus in- tensement, servez-le toujours plus fidelement. Et alors, enfants de Dieu, membres actifs de sa famille, je vous promets que vous jouerez le role que vous revez et qui revient dans l’Eglise et dans la societe qui attendent tant de vous. Chers amis, soyez ces chefs Chretiens et humains dont notre temps a tant besoin. Disciples d’une vie chretienne toujours plus fervente, d’une culture humaine jamais achevee, vous atteindrez votre ideal. C’est mon souhait, autant que mon desir. Marcel Lancelot Vice-Principal

C’est grace a cet interet et a la cooperation qu’ils ont toujours manifestee que le conseil des etudiants a realise les huts qu’il s’etait proposes. Though the future remains hidden, the methods for making it a success remain the same: a well- balanced education suited to one’s capacities and an ideal in life.
