Under the direc- tion of drum major (Tom Moore) and majorette (Kathy Ammerman) the pep band rallied the crowds at home bas- ketball games with their spirited arrangements. Striving for perfection, the newly formed Cadet Band marched their way through their freshman year. With the help of the Mustang Band they performed in all concerts and finished up the year by participating in their first parade and band contest. 13

t Sunshine Days Parade I I Marching under the calls of Captain Debbie Hosko and Co-Captaln Joyce Smith was the 21 member Drill Team. Many new moves were created by their new advisor Janelle Gaber. They started their practices in early July to prepare themselves for the Prosser, Ellensburg, and Sunnyside parades. All their hard work paid off when they clinched first prize at the Sunnyside Sunshine Days Parade. The team continued a busy year performing drill and dance routines at football and basketball half times. Selling turquoise necklaces was one of their money raising projects which helped finance their way to state competition. 15
