Through anecdotes stories, and straight faced jokes, he teaches us not only an under- standing of organic compounds, eudeometers and slide rules, but also an insight on Life. He has spent innumerable hours as bas- ketball statistician, chaperon, and Senior Advisor. His class is never known as a breeze course , but is made fascinating and challenging by a. versatile instructor. And so it is with deep and sincere gratitude that We proudly dedicate this 1968-69 Mustang to you--Mr. Jerome McDermott, teacher, chemist, and friend. Student Body . , f ,f I President ' K' ,M , Q? Senior Class Hi tor It all happened in 1956 when the first wave attack began at the Prosser Kindergarden. . Even then Mrs. Hilemen could tell this wouldn't be an ordinary class. They seemed different alright, she said, with a certain connotation. After a grueling year of that we were ready for the tough stuff--first grade. With the teacher's aid we learned a few of the 3 R's and a few P's and Q's too. Onward and upward through 2nd and 3rd grade where we learned writing and spelling from three to five letter words fdog, cat. . J. We learned to read through the melodramas of Dick, Jane and Sally fsort of a triangle! and of course Puff and Spot fthe odd coupley, Geography was a favorite in 4th grade. We found we could catch up on sleep then. Remember all those wild room parties ? Those room mothers sure knew how to plan 'em fwith plenty of ciderj. In fourth grade the kids of Riverview moved to the Heights to continue study. While there, others continued at Whitstran with David Heineman as the Harem-Master. Finally we were at the top--sophisti- cated sixth graders, but that year went quickly and soon we were to enter the halls of PJ H. At PJH we learned more responsibility for elsej. We found freedom we never felt before in elementary school, like--well--u.h. Anyway, in magazine sales we soared and got sore from going door to door, but it was all worth it because it paid for those wild class parties which lasted from 8:30 to 10 or so! The first of our class to be famed as fire chief there was Darrel Carter, Those fire drills and bomb scares added a better gusto to the schedule. Everyone who took hot lunch found that they burned up all the food they ate by running back and forth to the cafeteria fpuff, puffy. We voted for Diana Adolf, Jackie Laws, Susan Suhadolnik, Sandi Grover and Connie Murray to lead us in our cheers for the fabulous Colts. We also voted for our ASB offices including Darrel Carter, President, Buck Bruns, Vice Presidentg Patty Dondanville, Secretary, Dan Raap, Treasurerg and Steve Hu.nter, Business Manager, who all gave us the business! We left PJH, giving the teachers a lot of experience, a lot of memories, a few grey hairs and library carpeting. Ah yes, Senior High School and three years to go! We weren't any ordinary Sophomores! Once we caught on to the class yells we almost always out yelled the Juniors and Seniors, thus symbolizing the power of our master class. A great number of us were admitted to Honor Society indicating our intel- lectual ability. For Homecoming our float was first for two years straight, which made up for this year! Gloria Tomich was consistent in winning Princess and Queen in those three years. Cheerleaders and songleaders we had during our three years were, Jackie Laws, Patti Dondanville, Diane Dondanville, Susan Suhadolnik and Olga Salinas, In our Junior year Bruce Prenguber acted as Vice President in the ASB scene and in our Senior year we had Darrel Carter as President. Co-Treasurers were Debbie Davis and Teri Sotta, Secretary Jean Juzeler and Dan Raap, Fire Chief, For a money raising Project in our Junior year we sold license plates to get funds for the Junior -Senior Prom, which turned out to be the best yet! But all this fun and these memories must be left behind as we continue our education into college. And for the most part the students of the Prosser Senior Class will go their separate ways. Best of wishes mighty Seniors--you surely socked it to 'emi ! ! ! ! ! CO- ALEDICTORIANS Sharon Heintz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Heintz, was the co-valedictorian of the class of 1969. She was the Secretary of Honor Society, point chairman for FHA, and a Masonic Award Finalist. She was a Princess in the Miss Prosser Court. After graduation she plans to attend Eastern Washington State College. Q .- , 1 - K JANET OLDFIELD Teri Sotta, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Sotta, was this year's co-valedictorian. She was a member of Hon- or Society, Recreation Chairman for FHA, a National Merit Scholarship qualifying finalist, and co-treasurer of the ASB. Teri was this year's Miss Prosser. She plans to attend the University of Washington after gradu- ation. ALUTATGRIA Janet Oldfield, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Oldfield, was this year's salutatorian. She was a mem- ber of Honor Society, State Secretary of FHA, and the Winner of the Betty Crocker Homeniaker's Award, Janet plans to attend Eastern Washington State College after graduation, TOP TE X Underclassmen s 3 1, 1 S E 5 5 2 S a 3 E1 E E 5 1 I L Roy Abshire Loren Amack Randy Ammerman Richard Bailiff Kenneth Baird Connie Bender Robin Blaine Connie Bowen Lori Brader Kathie Brown Cliff Coffman Doug Coffman Erma Conley Delores Combs Vickie Coombs Lynn Davison Virginia Deaton Don Donaldson Esther Dufault Phil Dufault Ted Durfey Billie Durrett Charlene Eaknian Rosie Espinoza Howard Farr Lonny Finn Karen Fisk John Flores David Freepons Stanley Gagner Barbara Gavin Don Gilbert Steve Gore Mike Hagarty Chuck Hagerman Paul Halstead G ' 5.5, gp ,-nw: ' 'Z .
