School Spirit We Work . . . 1+-1 The husy hors ahove are concentrating on their projects in woodshop, one ol' Prosser lliglrs most popular classes. ilihe boys are expected to complete at least one project ll year. rl variety ol' things are turned out, from candy howls and nicknack shelves to hope chests and cahinets. Two hrand-new pieces of equip- ment, a iointer and circular saw, have heen added this year. Other equi nment includes a hand saw, lathes, saws, a tool grinder, a drill press, and various hand tools. ln addition to their projects the hoys learn ahout grades of wood and their quality, types of finishes to use on certain kinds of wood, and the proper use and care ol' their equipment. Some ol! the outstanding projects this year were a hig gun rack hx' llarold McQueary. three hope chests hi' Ross Kimmel, Bill llutchinson, and Don Simmons, a nut howl with an inlaid white star hy ,lim I louston, and a gun rack hx' l larold llutencir. ZalQe Graff has done some outstanding worls in turning. Ray- mond llathhorn, Virgil Sharpe, and 'lied llanlas have done some very fY0OLl work for the school. XVayne Singleton made a writing desili out of a huffet. hflr. XVernex, popularly known as Pop,y' has charge of woodshop and mechanical drawing. Ile has been on the faculty for nine vears. The judging team placed second at the Grand- view Harvest Festival where Dick Conant was second high. Laon Rhynard, Chuck Clark. Rich Wright, Dick Conant. and Bob Gaunt journeyed to the Pacific International Live- stock Exposition at Portland where they won the Durocs Banner. Laon Rhynard placed third at the Central Washing- ton Fair at Yakima: also at Yakima J. Cox won with two blue ribbon bulls. The F.F.A. Chapter booth won sixth place. and thirteen individual prizes were won by the chapter in produce.
