CLASS HISTORY Forty f1ve anx1ous elghth graders marched 1nto the1r classroom 1n 1948 Many of th1s group came from Alton wh1le others or1g1 nated from Prospect Commun1ty Mrs C C Fxncher gu1ded our falterlng steps through th1s flrst momentous year Much of our t1me durlng the year was spent gett1ng acqualnted w1th our new classmates A tr1p to Ralelgh dur1ng the latter half was the h1gh hght of our exper1ences We became h1gh school students ln 1949 and began to look forward to our sen1or year and graduat1on Our Ju.n1or year proved to be both exc1t1ng and busy For Pete s Sake ' our attempt at a Jun1or play was a true test of our pat1ence and talents After the presentatlon of the play the class honored Th1s long awalted Sen1or year has not been the good t1mes and free hours we had hoped It mlght be There were our speeches to prepare the class poem to wr1te the class flower and the class colors and our rnotto to select We also had to elect our mascots D1ane Stover and Cec11 Crook Our Annual ' The Tatler turned out to be our most d1ff1cult task For weeks we hurr1ed and worr1ed try1ng hard to meet deadllnes All th1s along w1th our books and stud1es made the year seem too short We go now out 1nto the world not dependent upon others but w1th the sp1r1t of lndependence wrltten across our mlnds We end our days at Prospect H1gh School w1th th1s thought 1n m1nd In rselves our future l1es 9 . . . ,, , , . . the dignified seniors with a formal banquet at the Monroe Hotel. u w .
