gf-age-B., - i Z. nl. H ,ir, 2 T FRESHMAN A BASKETBALL. FRONT ROW: Bruce Burkhardt, Gary An- Haney, Dan' Collins. ROW TWO: Coach Benoche, Jim Tate, Owen McBride, drews, Mark Shillinger, Jack Behrens, Joseph Martin, Bob DeJonge, Forrest Jim Gumz, Butch Leonard, Mike Anderson, Ken Nehmzow. VICTORY RANG FOR FROSH In their first year of playing Together for Prospect, the fresh- man A team displayed a remarkable amount of skill for the present and promise for The future. The young Knights won their first Twelve games in a row and seemed headed for one of the most successful seasons in freshman history. The back- bone of the frosh attack was a fine fast break and an aggres- sive defense. The boys worked hard on the fundamentals of basketball, and Coach Benoche stressed basic techniques that are necessary for future success. One of the most dedicated steps on Prospect's basketball ladder was the freshman B team, under the direction of Coach Syzmanski. These boys practiced on the asphalt of the field- house, and their games were tucked away from view in The west gym. But These conditions did not deter the Knights from having a fine season, as they won nine of their first ten games. The watchword for the Bees was defense, and they played an aggressive press which proved to be quite successful in de- feating opposing teams. FRESHMAN B BASKETBALL. SPENT MOST OF Victory once again reflected the outstanding accomplish- ments of Prospect's varsity gymnastics team. Coach Farris proudly encouraged Prospect's stars to a second year of unde- feated success. Pat Kivland, all around, Rick Carr, trampoline, Don Sabey, Tom Phillips, and Bruce Cole, side-horse, and Todd Olsen, horizontal bar, proved a winning combination as team champs. In past years Prospect gymnosts have competed in the state meet and have won top honors. Coach Farris looked for- ward to additional awards tor his boys in the final test. As a further inspiration for our gymnosts, Prospect was chosen to host the State Gymnastics Finals in March. Welcoming partici- pants and observers from all parts of the state, our students enjoyed the opportunity of exchanging ideas with representa- tives of other schools and of exhibiting excellence in sports and sportsmanship. Trampoline expert Mike Zadel turned the world upside down for victories.
