CAPTURED WINNING TITLE Returning from an extremely successful freshman year, this year's sophomore Knights once again displayed their ability to win at basketball. Coached by Mr. McDougal, the cagers clinched the St. Charles Holiday Tournament with a thrilling victory over Aurora West in the final game, making Prospect the first school to ever win the tournament two years in a row. Led by forwards Dave Kingman, Mike Mueller, and Al Shers and guards Dan Carda and Don Whitlock and backed by a strong bench, the sophomores fought for another conference championship. Since offense was the boys' strong point, the team spent much time drilling to better their defensive tech- niques. While compiling a formidable record, the sophomore cagers looked forward to two more strenuous years of competi- tive basketball. All team members hope for continued success in future years of play. ROW TWO: Gary Guerin, Dan Agard, Bill Dax, Tom Beard, Ray Kleinhuizen, Jack Pollard, Graig Wolf, Coach Arseneau. BOTH J-VS AND SOPHS After a rather dismal start, the Prospect junior varsity basket- ball team roared into high gear and appeared well on its way to a conference championship as the season's end ap- proached. The iayvees lost their first game, but they were unbeatable from that point as they swept through fifteen games without defeat. A first-place finish certainly seemed like- ly, and Coach Arseneau had good reason to be proud of his team. Mainstays of the team were J. D. Thorne, Tom Beard, and Dan Agard. During the course of the season the whole team showed consistent improvement on both offense and de- fense, and after posting a fine record this year, they are look- ing forward to competing on the varsity level as seniors. Among the season highlights were twin victories over Forest View, Wheeling, and Maine West squads, as well as victories over all other league opponents. 4 Dan Agard waited for the right moment to shoot. That extra quarter-inch counted. J. D. Thorne leaps up for two points.

VICTORY RANG FOR FROSH In their first year of playing Together for Prospect, the fresh- man A team displayed a remarkable amount of skill for the present and promise for The future. The young Knights won their first Twelve games in a row and seemed headed for one of the most successful seasons in freshman history. The back- bone of the frosh attack was a fine fast break and an aggres- sive defense. The boys worked hard on the fundamentals of basketball, and Coach Benoche stressed basic techniques that are necessary for future success. One of the most dedicated steps on Prospect's basketball ladder was the freshman B team, under the direction of Coach Syzmanski. These boys practiced on the asphalt of the field- house, and their games were tucked away from view in The west gym. But These conditions did not deter the Knights from having a fine season, as they won nine of their first ten games. The watchword for the Bees was defense, and they played an aggressive press which proved to be quite successful in de- feating opposing teams. FRESHMAN B BASKETBALL.
